CALTRANS SR-91 Santa Ana River Bridge Construction Closes Santa Ana River Bicycle Trail Closure between N. Tustin Ave and S. Lakeview Ave until October 2015

During construction, the Santa Ana River Bridge will be widened and retaining walls will be installed from east of the connector to Tustin Avenue. The bridge widening will include the extension of seventeen piers along the flood control channel. During pile driving operations, Santa Ana River Bicycle Trail detour signs will be posted for bicyclists to use Lakeview Avenue, Riverdale Avenue and Tustin Avenue as an alternate route. Tustin and Lakeview Avenues do not have a dedicated bike lane, but Riverdale Avenue does. Additional signs will be posted on Lakeview Avenue and Tustin Avenue informing motorists to share the road and to enforce no parking on specific dates.The project has 500 construction working days with completion estimated in late 2015. The contractor is OHL of Irvine.

5/5/2014- Orange County Bicycle Coalition Board,
met with representatives of OCTA, CalTrans, OC Parks and the City of Anaheim on May 5th to discuss the closure from a cyclist's perspective. OCBC proposed replacing the sub-standard bike lane on Riverdale with sharrows and "Bikes May Use Full Lane" signs and reducing the speed limit to 35 mph. 5/10/2104  Closure Gates Open
Someone removed closure gate to allow bicyclist access to closed area, however at the 91 freeeway overpass you need to dismount and walk accross a dirt section.

Also, known as the Santa Ana River Bikeway, Santa Ana Bicycle Path and SART. Our goal is to encourage a high quality, family oriented trail system that blends an attractive mix of recreational amenities, neighborhood green space, and local cultural heritage allowing people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the pleasures of the Santa Ana River Trail in a fun and safe environment. The Santa Ana River Trail spans over 120 miles through Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The trail is one of the largest non-motorized social boulevards in the United States.
